The Parent Teachers Association (PTA)
Welcome to Warfield and welcome to our Parent Teacher Association (PTA). This is one of many ways parents can get more involved in the dynamic, caring and family ethos of our school.
All parents, guardians and carers of children at Warfield are automatically members of Warfield School PTA and there are many ways you can be involved. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to speak to one of the contacts listed below or your class representative.
We hope you find the PTA pages on the school website useful and informative. You will find copies of recent agenda and minutes of each PTA meeting on here as well as the news that is communicated in the PTA’s bimonthly newsletter and the school’s monthly newsletter on forthcoming fundraising events.
What is a PTA?
Most schools have a Parent Teacher Association (PTA), which is an organisation of parents and staff. Its role is to encourage closer links between home and school. PTAs are best known for their fundraising work, but we have a useful social function too. Fundraising events provide an opportunity for parents, staff and pupils to get together.
How is Warfield School PTA organised?
All parents/carers and teachers are automatically members of the PTA.
We hold our annual general meeting September, at the beginning of the school year. At this meeting a committee is elected to run the PTA – usually consisting of a chair, a vice-chair, a treasurer, a secretary and ordinary committee members. These ordinary members include at least one, and often two, parents from each class as ‘class reps‘. Their job is to pass on information from the PTA to other parents in their child’s class.
Our PTA usually meets up once a term and set up smaller working groups to organise individual events throughout the academic year. Everyone is welcome!
Our PTA is fortunate to have the support of many volunteers elected at the AGM, including a teacher’s representative, several coordinators and class representatives. The current members are:
Vice Chair—Woodhurst Co-Opt
Ordinary Committee Member and Fete Liason Officer
Ordinary Committee Member and Art/Design Officer
Deputy Head Teacher
Year 3 Class Teacher
Nursery Manager and Outdoor Learning Co-ordinator
How do I contact the PTA?
You can email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org, speak to us in the playground or leave a note addressed to the PTA in school office.
How can I be involved in my PTA?
Although we are fortunate to have the support of many volunteers elected at the AGM, we need all the help we can get! If you can get involved in anyway you can, big or small- we would love to work with you.
There are many different ways you can help with the PTA, whether you have lots of time to offer or not. Some of the roles are time-consuming, although also rewarding. If you can’t commit to a big job in organising an event, look out for things you can do less frequently, such as helping out on a stall at the Christmas Bazaar or summer fete or even help to sell soft drinks and cakes at events such as the children’s Christmas plays.
………………..And you can always support PTA events by simply turning up to our amazing events!.
How is money raised?
We raise money through various events throughout the academic year. Our main events are The Christmas Shopping Evening, Christmas Fayre and Summer Fete where we invite family and friends and the local community to enjoy the fun! We also have a quiz night twice a year and run other small events such as Bingo nights, children’s valentine disco, second hand school uniform sales and much more. We are always looking for new fundraising ideas, do contact us if you have an idea.
One easy and fantastic way to help raise money quickly is to purchase your online goods through
and clicking on Warfield C of E Primary School. When you make a purchase through a choice of hundreds of online retailers, including Tesco, Amazon and M & S they make a small donation to the school as a percentage of what you spend, (percentage donations vary between retailors). You have to click on easy fundraising before you make a purchase online, payment is made directly with the stores not through easy fundraising so don’t worry they do not have access to your account or bank details. It’s best to set up easy fundraising as your home screen so you don’t have to remember to go through them first when you are making a purchase online.
How is money spent?
Funds raised by the PTA are intended to provide ‘extras’ not already provided by the school’s main income – often ‘fun things’ that make learning more interesting and exciting. Our PTA’s objective is to advance the education of the pupils at Warfield C of E Primary School by taking part in activities and providing facilities or equipment that are not normally provided by the local authority.
“The PTA committee work with the head teachers to decide how to spend PTA funds”.
Our PTA have raised around £80,000 since it was started. This amazing amount of money has been used to provide all the following: – an ICT suite, Whiteboards in every classroom, an early years’ outdoor learning area, new playground covering, a new stage for the hall and a piano! The PTA also contributes on a regular basis to the little extras such as educational visits from travelling theatre groups and reading books for the library and the reading scheme.
We hope we can make a difference in our school. If we all work together great things will happen!!
Bye for now.
