Warfield CE Primary School

Behaviour

Every child deserves to feel known, valued and successful.

At Warfield Church of England Primary School, we place relationships at the heart of everything we do, recognising that children thrive when they feel safe, respected and understood. Our approach to behaviour is rooted in high expectations, compassion and restorative practice, helping children learn from mistakes, celebrate successes and develop the skills they need for life. Together, we nurture a community where kindness, respect and responsibility enable every child to flourish academically, socially and emotionally.

Our approach is underpinned by trauma-informed practice and an understanding that positive relationships are the foundation for learning and well-being. Through the principles of PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy) and the 5 to Thrive approach, we create an environment where children feel secure, connected and valued. We recognise that every child brings unique experiences and needs, and we are committed to fostering a strong sense of belonging so that all children feel part of our school family. Guided by our Christian vision and values, we nurture confidence, resilience and emotional well-being, enabling children to develop the skills they need to flourish. Whilst we provide support and understanding for every child, we also maintain high expectations and expect all members of our community to be respectful, be safe and be ready to learn. Helping to create a positive, caring and purposeful environment where everyone can succeed.

PACE is an approach developed by Dr Dan Hughes, an American psychologist who works with traumatised children. PACE stands for Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy. These principles help to promote the experience Five to Thrive – Bristol Early Years
