Welcome Otters and Raccoons, 

We are so happy to meet you and that you are joining us in Year 1! 

We hope you have had a wonderful Summer break and you are ready for lots of exciting learning this term. 

This term we will be learning under the topic Let’s Grow! We will be focussing our English learning by continuing Drawing Club with texts such as 'Sam Plants a Sunflower' and 'Jack and the Beanstalk'.  

Our Science learning will focus on identifying wild and garden plants and understanding the structure of trees and plants.  

In our Art and Design lessons we will focus on pattern and have fun mixing colours. We will also be focusing on observational drawing and using different mediums.  

There is so much to do this half-term, we hope you can learn at home as well using the suggestions on our Home Learning document that can be accessed on our Year 1 webpage.

Information: 

P.E days shall be on Thursdays and Fridays. Children need to come to school dressed in their PE school uniform on these days following the uniform policy. Earrings need to be taken out or taped over.   

Home-folders need to be in school everyday. 

No bags larger than book bags please. Bags take up a lot of space and are usually empty. Packed lunch boxes and water bottles are removed from bags on entry to school, a book bag is large enough to contain the items needed to travel to and from the classroom. Large bags will be need to be taken home with the parent at drop off. 

Please ensure your child’s clothing is named and is in line with the school uniform policy. Children will be sent home with a slip if their uniform does not adhere to the policy.
